The Journal of Automata, Languages and Combinatorics is a forum for research in all areas of the field, from theory to applications and relations to other subjects. It is the successor of the Journal of Information Processing and Cybernetics / Elektronische Informationsverarbeitung und Kybernetik.

For the last 20 years, from 1996 until 2015, it has been edited under the present name at Fakultät für Informatik, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Dassow. Information about those issues can be found following this link.

Since the year 2016, the journal will be published by Institut für Informatik, Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen by Prof. Dr. Markus Holzer and Prof. Dr. Martin Kutrib.

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Automata, Languages and Combinatorics is a forum for research in all areas of the field, from theory to applications and relations to other subjects. Particular attention is given to The Journal of Automata, Languages and Combinatorics publishes original articles. Occasionally, special issues will be published dedicated to a particular topic or with selected and extended papers of conferences.

Guidelines for Authors

Authors are asked to submit original papers electronically as a PDF to the Editorial Office or to a member of the Editorial Board.

Please write the papers in English and include an abstract, keywords, and the full address of every author. The authors are asked to use LaTeX in combination with the class file jalc.cls and the bibtex sty-file jalc.bst. Instructions for using it are given in this example. For all these files, please download the whole package. All papers will be acknowledged and refereed.

Reviewing

Each submitted paper will be peer-reviewed. Reviewers will be invited by the editor. They should provide a detailed review, including justification for their evaluation. The reviews will be sent to the authors unless the editor decides not to do so.
